Snip, snip, snip!

After about 18 months, we decided it is finally time for Liam's first haircut. He was bald for much of his life, and his hair really was not that bad, but from the back sometimes it looked like a little baby mullet, or "bullet" as Logan called it.

We made an appointment at this cute little place called "Cookie Cutters." They specialize in kid haircuts and cater every detail to the little ones.

The barber chairs all look like boats, trucks, trains, pink convertibles, or in Liam's case: an airplane!

Liam was a trooper! Logan carefully explained to our little guy what would happen during the haircut. They take your hair in their fingers and go "snip, snip, snip!" Liam thought that sounded fun and said "snip, snip, snip" the whole drive to the shop. When the "snipping" actually started, he watched very closely.

He did not say a word (which is rare for him). He just quietly drove his airplane and stared into the mirror. No tears, no fuss. Just soaking in the whole experience.

Daddy rewarded him with a rare treat: ice cream! We all had a great time.

Now, if he hears a conversation with the word "hair" or "haircut" or even "airport" (which sounds like haircut), he thinks back to those scissors and proudly says "Snip, snip, snip!" He is a sharp cookie!

  2. Believe it or not, Logan was blonde as a little boy! So Liam might turn dark, or remain blonde. Only time will tell!

That just IS NOT RIGHT that he was such a jewel at his haircut! All three of my kids (so we can't blame genetics, here) SCREAMED the first time. We went to Cookie Cutters, had the DVD, bubbles, cute airplanes... the works. NO MATTER. Joseph did better the second time, Turner cried for like a year and I think it only took TJ a few times, but still... the first one??? He was that serene on the first one??... unprecedented. Maybe it was the ice cream... hmmmmm....
